Being a natural introvert, who is perfectly content being home, I consider myself a bit of an expert on this topic. Although, I will say, staying home because you HAVE to, has proven to be a bit more of a challenge. Today, I wanted to share my favorite things and my best tips for for how to be a homebody. It is a self care checklist of sorts. Right now, I encourage you to create an oasis for yourself in your home where you can relax and get away. Your home is your safe haven and source of comfort, so maximize that feeling with whatever it takes to get you there. Today, I am sharing all of the things that are making me happy right now and are helping me to make my home a place of happiness and comfort.
MY BEST TIPS FOR HOW TO BE A HOMEBODY
PAJAMAS | We are living our lives in loungewear and pajamas right now, so let’s make the best of it, shall we!? These are the most comfy and softest pajamas and a perfect dupe for the pricier Eberjey version. They also come in a summer version and I have them in every color. At this price point, why not? You will love them too, I promise!
OUAI CHILL PILLS | Self care is so important right now. You can read my blog post on the importance of self care here. As women, we are called to arms to be everything to everyone right now. We are mothers, teachers, workers, wives, it’s a lot so we need to find ways to unwind and escape. My favorite way is a hot bath with these and a glass of Chardonnay. They smell amazing and I come out refreshed and rejuvenated. They also make a great Mother’s Day gift.
SILK PILLOWCASE | I have talked about this numerous times before. A silk pillowcase is one of the BEST things you can do for anti-aging for your skin and hair. Since a lot of us are spending a lot more time sleeping, now may be a good time to invest in one. My husband calls it my princess pillow.
THE SOFTEST BLANKET | As a family, we all love snuggling under soft and cozy blankets on the couch for family movie night. This is the softest and snuggliest blanket ever and will make you never want to leave the house again. An extra bonus is when i is fresh out of the dryer washed in the amazing Diva wash laundry detergent I talk about below. Heavenly!
LONG WALKS | Walks are keeping me sane right now. Sometimes we walk as a family, sometimes I walk with my friend and neighbour (6 feet apart) and sometimes I walk alone and blast my favorite music. Since I am pretty much only leaving the house to take walks right now, I bought myself these Veja sneakers I have had my eye on for months. I am finally figuring out how to rock athleisure wear and these are as comfy as they are cute and have been great for my daily outings.
THE SOFTEST LEGGINGS | Another amazing dupe alert! I am all about living my best life for less. These inexpensive leggings are a great dupe for the Lululemon Align leggings and I think I own 4 pairs ( which incidentally is still less than the cost of 1 pair of Lulu leggings. They are so soft and comfortable and they have also become my go-to travel leggings for airplane rides. ( not sure when that will happen again) great for my walks and eve
PILLOW SPRAY | I use this, without fail, every night before bed. It signals my brain that it is time to wind down and go to sleep. I swear it works and helps me sleep better. I spray it on my pillow right before I get into bed and take deep calming breaths. I am asleep in a matter of minutes. My husband loves it too and asks for it every night as well. It helps stop my racing mind and anxiety and lets me fall asleep faster and stay asleep.
DIVA WASH | I adore the smell of this stuff and I am currently washing all of my clothes with it. I originally purchased it for my sheets and towels and even my husband commented on it immediately how much he loved it. I use 1 or 2 scent free Tide pods and then add a half a cup of this stuff. The smell makes me happy and reminds me of a fancy hotel and beach vacations. It is one of the things that is cheering me up right now, so I say why the heck not?? I have also been mixing a half a cap with water and put it in a spray bottle. I spray all of my soft surfaces with it to make my entire house smell yummy!
ANTHROPOLOGIE CANDLE | I am all about comforting and cozy and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere at home. I have been a fan of this candle for years and love lighting it. It comes in a few scents but my favorite is the Volcano scent and I love the Aloha Orchid one in the summer. I still diffuse my essential oils as well and we all have diffusers in our bedrooms. It helps me sleep and the kids love theirs too. But I love a candle for creating a nice atmosphere.
READING A GOOD BOOK | Reading has always been an escape for me and I have love it since childhood. (Thanks mom for all of those trips to the library) In recent years, I have been “too busy” or too tired to read, so I am relishing the extra time right now to really indulge and read all of the books that have been on my list, including this one.
