This blog post was sparked by a reader question for how to get rid of under eye bags. I shared my best tips & advice on Instagram stories here. A lot of you chimed in with some product recommendations as well, so I thought it would be a good idea to put together a blog post with my best tips & product recommendations for getting rid of under eye bags, with all of this fabulous information, so you all can come back to it. Bags and dark circles are two different animals and I will write a post about dark circles in the near future as well. In my experience, you can’t really get rid of dark circles, except cosmetically with concealer, but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve for lessening the severity of them as well. If you ned some makeup tips for looking more awake, you can check out this blog post.
WHAT CAUSES UNDER EYE BAGS ?
Ok, let’s chat about those pesky little buggers. Under eye bags, or puffy eyes, are often hereditary, but can also be caused by things such as lack of sleep, crying, a high sodium intake, too much wine and seasonal allergies. Aging is also a factor. (Yay) They are a result of fluid build up under the eye area. In severe cases, you can have surgery to treat them.

HOW DO I TREAT UNDER EYE BAGS ?
There are a few remedies that work well for treating under eye bags and getting rid of them. A good night’s sleep always does wonders, but that is not always in the realm of possibility and lack of sleep is a actually the big culprit. If you suffer from bags, try to sleep with our head slightly elevated. If you need additional help, it is time to pull out the big guns, so here we go.
PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR UNDER EYE BAGS

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9
JADE ROLLER | The jade roller is huge for de-puffing. I keep mine in the freezer for extra oomph. Jade rollers help to get rid of under eye bags by breaking up the fluid and clearing toxins. They are great for the whole face, but especially for under eye bags. I use mine after applying eye patches that I also keep in the refrigerator for extra de-puffing power.
SKYN ICELAND PATCHES | These are some of my all-time favorite eye patches. I use them before events to help me look my best and also the morning after, after having a little too much fun, or eating super salty foods. They feel really cooling and work in just 10 minutes.
ORIGINS GINZING EYE CREAM | My favorite daytime eye cream. I use this in the morning, under makeup to wake up my tired eyes. It contains caffeine and a little bit of luminessence to brighten the area under my eyes.
BECCA ANTI FATIGUE PRIMER | This has quickly become a holy grail item in my makeup bag. You can actually feel this working. It gives the under eye area a cooling sensation after application. I use my fingers to swipe this on over my eye cream, before applying my concealer. It helps with depuffing and also keeps your concealer from creasing. Just make sure you let it set for a minute before applying your concealer.
THE ORDINARY CAFFEINE SERUM | I literally ran to Ulta yesterday to get this and try it out before publishing this post and I am happy to say, it works great and is such a bargain to boot. Apply a bit of this under a pair of cheapo eye masks for a more intense treatment. It works great to wake up and de-puff your eye bags.
PETER THOMAS ROTH 24K PATCHES | These are a bit of a splurge, but they are SO GOOD. I use these in conjunction with my jade roller and watch the magic happen. I also store these in my fridge for emergency de-puffing sessions. These are my special occasion patches, because they are a bit pricey.
PIXI DETOXIfEYE PATCHES | These are a great, budget friendly option for everyday use. They are similar to the PTR ones I mentioned above, and I have these on stand-by on my vanity. My one gripe is that they have too much serum in them and when I apply the patches the stuff runs down my face. I just rub it into my skin after, but it can cause pilling issues under makeup.
DR LORETTA FIRMING EYE GEL | This is my staple nighttime eye cream and I love it. It has really tightened my under eye area and diminishes my crows feet and it also work wonderfully on puffy eyes. Incidentally, this eye cream also just won the allure Best of Beauty award for best de-puffing eye cream, and it is well deserved in my opinion. A little bit goes a long way. I have used this consistently for 3 months and still have over half the tube left.
DR. BRAND NO MORE BAGGAGE | I needed to include this product in this post, because it really works very well to de-puff under eye bags. However, this product is not easy to work with and takes a bit of getting used to. There are a lot of complaints about it not looking right under makeup and it can be tricky. However, some people swear by it. Personally, my under eye bag problems are usually solved with the products mentioned above, so I don’t it worth the hassle, but I felt this stuff needed to be included to be a comprehensive post about the best de-puffing products.
I hope this helps you guys. We can all use a little help in that department, am I right?!
XO,

PIN THIS:

Thank you for this post. I have eye bags that are hereditary, and I’m very self-conscious about them. I’ve never tried any of these products, so I’m excited to try something new, that’ve been recommended by someone like you!
I hope some of these work for you. Keep me posted!
I recently discovered your blog thru Instagram. I live in the same area & love your suggestions. I have somewhat sensitive skin and have issues with eye creams irritating my skin but I also struggle with dark under eye bags (thanks sinus issues & genetics). Have you had any adjustment period issues when starting these products? I’m particularly interested in the Dr Loretta tightening cream.
Hi there and welcome! I am so glad you are here. I have not had any adjustment period with the Dr.Loretta eye gel. It is great for sensitive skin. The only cream I don’t use every night because of possible sensitivity issues is the Charlotte tilbury, which is amazing. I only use that one 2-3 times a week and use the Dr. Loretta the other nights. I hope that helps.
After using anti aging dermalmd serum for several weeks, the puffiness under my eyes and on my eylids was definitely reduced. I use it every morning and night. It doesn’t make the puffiness totally disappear, just lessens it, which is more than any other thing I’ve tried. I can tell the difference!
