As busy women and moms, it is in our nature do do things for others. We are givers & nurturers and as a result, we often tend to put ourselves last. But, in order to take care of everything and everyone, we need to take care of ourselves first. I have made self care a goal of mine and one of my favorite things to do for myself is masking! I have shared my skincare routine on here before. I keep it pretty simple, but on Sundays, I take some much needed “me” time and do a mask. My whole process only takes about an hour, but it is just enough time to feel renewed & refreshed. Today, I am sharing my masking ritual with with you in the hopes that it will inspire you to take some time for yourself. Because “me” time is so important and we are at our best when we take the time to charge our batteries.
*This post was brought to you in Partnership with Bastide. All opinions or my own. Thank you all for supporting my blog and the brands that make this all possible. XO 💕
In the early evenings, I sneak away for an hour for some “me” time. I pour myself a glass of wine, change into my pajamas, dim the lights, diffuse some oils and get masking. I apply my mask onto cleansed skin and sit back and enjoy an episode of my favorites show while the mask is doing its thing. Sometimes, I just close my eyes and reflect on my week ahead, or take a little nap.

Last Sunday, I had the chance to treat myself to a mask and facial oil from Bastide, a beauty and lifestyle brand from Aix-en-Provence. Their philosophy is simple: Plenty of water, plants, light, and balance. None of the nasties. No questionable ingredients. I love that! I am all about simplicity and balance in my life. Over the past few months I have tried to cut out the chemicals and use more natural and clean beauty products. The mask and facial oil from Bastide are pampering and luxurious, without the nasty chemicals.
THE CLAY MASK

Unlike traditional clay masks, this one doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry, which is crucial for my sensitive skin. With my days being spent outside in the heat and humidity, I need something that will really clean my pores, while still being gentle, and this mask does that. It is detoxifying, purifying, absorbs sebum and oils and unclogs my pores. It also improves circulation, so your skin may be a tad red after use, but only for a few minutes. My skin felt fine after and I experienced minimal redness, if any. Lemon and fig extracts from Provence help to brighten the skin, while red rice extract helps hydrate. It also contains red clay from Roussillon (a region in the South of France). Once the mask was dry, I took a warm, wet washcloth and laid it over my face for a few seconds to gently soften the mask and remove it. My skin felt revived, refreshed and calm after using it and so soft. I loved it.
FACIAL OIL

I always love to follow up my mask with a nourishing facial oil. This one is so luxurious and I used it on my face and neck. Pro Tip: Always extend your skincare routine to your neck & chest for maximum anti-aging benefits). This blend of oil and extracts that nourishes and protects skin with Hazelnuts and Abyssinian oil, rich in fatty acids that help strengthen your skin barrier. This is so vital for people with sensitive skin. A compromised skin barrier can lead to rosacea. I know this from personal experience. The mask also contains extracts of tomato and pomegranate (natural antioxidants) that prevent free radical damage. My skin felt really nourished and calm after applying it.
After my little self care ritual, I am renewed and re-charged and ready for a new week. What are some of your sacred “me” time rituals? I would love to hear. Please share them here and I hope you get to squeeze in some “me” time this week.
