MY SPRING FASHION MUST HAVES
This week has been freeeezing over here. We have had another school free day, which was immediately followed by myself and my youngest getting sick, so everything has been on the back burner again this week. However, I am dreaming of spring and have pulled together my spring fashion must haves, including the only pairs of shoes you will need all season long. These are literally the only shoes I am currently wearing.
I love pairing basic staples with a pop of color and fun accessories. That way, you don’t need to purchase an entirely new wardrobe every season. I have added a few fun pieces to freshen up my closet and I am ready for the temps to warm up around here. I will be sharing tons of outfits here on the blog, as well as on my Instagram feed and stories, so make sure you are following me over there.
I purchased a handful of items that I can easily incorporate into my already existing wardrobe. Basically, I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal and this comes across in my closet. Almost every outfit I wear is some kind of version of this uniform and it works for me. Here are the pieces I added to my closet:
CLOTHES:
POINT SUR RUFFLED SHIRT// This shirt spoke to me immediately. I am a sucker for a cute ruffle and I love the sheer, voile material. I love it in white, but it comes in quite a few other colors, including this pretty pink one. It can be dressed up or down and is a great, dressier option for a white tee.
PINK RUFFLED SWEATER// Again, it had me at ruffle. It is also my most favorite color – pink, which is such a fun spring color. (There are a few colors options, if pink isn’t your thing). It is warm enough to get me through the chillier days and works great with white & blue jeans, and the outfit completed with a leopard belt or flats.
A STRIPED CARDIGAN// This is the perfect cardigan to throw on over leggings or jeans to run some errands. I have never met a stripe I didn’t like and the price on this is right. Also, I love the length and the fact that it has pockets. I will be wearing it all spring and summer long.
SHOP THIS POST:
A DARK DENIM SHIRT// I literally wore out my lighter denim shirt from J.Crew and wanted something a little darker. The shirt is fabulous and is a great layering piece during this transitional period. I wear it under sweaters and cardigans, or on its own, untucked, on warmer days.
A WHITE SHIRT BODYSUIT// This piece was a life changer for me. I am short waisted and I almost never wore a button down shirt because of the tucking issues I was having. Shirts would come untucked enough to make me look wide and bulky through the midsection. This bodysuit eliminates that issue and I feel fabulous in it. I am happy I am now able to wear this classic and timeless look.
A WHITE DENIM JACKET// My beloved denim jacket has been a staple in my closet for many seasons now and it goes with me everywhere. I decided it was time to add a white counterpart for the warmer months. I love this one just as much and it goes over dresses and provides an extra layer of warmth on chilly evenings.
You may notice my lack of bottoms, because I am pretty un-adventurous when it comes to that. Jeans are my thing and they work for me. I have my trustee denim jeans in several pairs and also wear white denim all year long. I even prefer to wear denim on date night, but I am trying to branch out, per my husband’s request 😉. I did acquire a white denim skirt, so I will try to play around with that.
During the warmer months, I also love wearing dresses, but have yet to find any that I love. As soon as I find some cute dress options, I will let you guys know.
SHOES
WEDGE SNEAKERS// You guys, these wedges are so, so good! They are cute and comfy and work perfectly with jeans, or my favorite Spanx faux leather leggings, and a tunic top. They are so versatile and take your everyday outfit up a notch. I have gotten so many compliments on these. There are many dupes of these shoes out there and I have tried a couple myself, but believe me when I tell you to get the real deal in these. They are worth every penny.
ROTHYS IN HOT PINK// Why it took me so long to get a pair of Rothys, I will never know. The hype is real, my friends and I can’t recommend these enough. They stay on my feet, are lightweight and the most comfy flats I own. I love them in my signature color, but they come in TONS of colors and a variety of styles. They are made form recycled plastic bottles and are, wait for it,…….machine washable! #boom. In other words, the perfect shoe. Again, not cheap, but worth it, in my opinion. They are also great for travel.
ADIDAS SUPERSTAR SNEAKERS// I saw these and just HAD to have them. I needed a new cute pair of sneakers to wear to soccer games and weekend activities. These fit the bill and are also very comfortable. I love the classic black and white look of these, but they also come in rose gold. I was so tempted, but opted for the classic style.
SHOP THIS POST:
NUDE BOOTIES// You need a pair in your closet. Enough said. I have had mine for years but found a similar pair. They are a true shoes must-have.
ESPADRILLE WEDGES// I got these last season and I am so excited they brought them back this year. They sell out quick, so snag them now. They are so cute and comfy and go with jeans and sun dresses alike. I wore them here. This year, they also brought them back in a fun pink and yellow color.
LEOPARD FLATS// Again, you need a pair. The end. Leopard is a neutral in my book and these add just enough interest to make a basic outfit pop. Mine are old, but when they wear out, I will be replacing them with the leopard Rothys.
ACCESSORIES
OVERSIZED SUNNIES// Wearing contact lenses makes my eyes very sensitive to sunlight. I rely on a large pair of sunglasses to keep me from squinting, but I also love them as a fashion accessory.
STATEMENT EARRINGS// I purchased these before the holiday season to snazz up my LBD, but they go just as well with summery, off-the-shoulder tops, and J.Crew brought them back in a few fun, summery colors. Of course, I am partial to the bright pink ones.
SHOPT THIS POST:
POMPOM SCARF// This is a cute scarf that will double as a wrap in a pinch on chilly nights. It comes in a few fun colors to choose from, but I find the grey to be the most versatile.
LEOPARD BELT// I have owned mine for years, but I felt I should include it in my post, in case you don’t have one yet. It is truly a must-have stable accessory that should be in your closet. It adds the finishing touch to any denim outfit and is especially fun paired with stripes.
In the coming few weeks, this items will be making regular appearances in my outfit posts. It will be fun to see, how I put them together to make a multitude of outfits
Happy almost Spring.
