STAYING WARM & COZY ON CHILLY WINTER DAYS
Happy Friday! We made it through the first full week in January. #Hallelujah! Even though my brain is thinking Spring (I am going on a girls’ trip to the Bahamas in a couple of weeks), this has been the coldest week yet and we are even supposed to get snow. I hate wearing bulky clothes and coats when I am running errands and lugging groceries. I like to be comfy and able to move around. Also, I am always cold, so my first priority is always to be warm and comfortable. (My husband would call me an expert in this department.) However, style wise, that can present a bit of a challenge, so today I am sharing a cute & cozy outfit idea and some tips on staying warm during these chilly temps.
STAYING WARM & COZY ON CHILLY WINTER DAYS
Wear a hat – Body heat escapes from your head first. A hat is vital for staying warm & cozy, but the itch factor is always huge for me. This one is so warm, but lightweight and feels like nothing at all. I can wear it for hours. Also, it covers my day-5-on-dry-shampoo hair. It is one of my favorite mom hacks when I don’t have time to wash my it.
Layer Up – This is the key to being warm, yet still looking presentable. Rather than throwing on a big bulky sweater, add layers. I think I am wearing 5 layers here. I have on a camisole, a long sleeved tee, a denim shirt, a cashmere sweater and my vest. Whew! At night, it is like peeling an onion when I take everything off to put on my jammies 🤣.
The sweater is my favorite – so soft and lightweight and it doesn’t pill at all. It comes in tons of colors and some really pretty ones for Spring as well.

Wear form fitting bottoms. – baggy sweats do nothing to flatter your shape. I also find that loose pants let the air in. Choose slim joggers or thick leggings to stay warm. I am currently obsessed with these leggings!

Make sure your feet are warm. Nothing makes you more miserable that cold feet. I have had these Uggs for years and they are still my favorite cozy winter shoe. I put on thin wool socks and slide these on – pure heaven.
Stay warm on the inside. I always love toting a hot tea or coffee in the car with me on days like these. It warms up my hands and belly all at once.

I seriously pulled this outfit together from my closet with staples that I alreaady owned. It just goes to show, if you invest in good staple items, they last for years and you can create a multitude of outfits.

The one new thing I purchased recently, are these leggings and I am telling you, you NEED them in your life. They are the most soft and comfy leggings I have ever owned. I am completely obsessed and have not taken them off since the day I got them. Also, they are a total bargain and rival my $100 Beyond Yoga leggings. You must get a pair – I promise you will not regret it. They are great for travel, too. I will be getting them in a few more colors. At $22.00 a pair, I can’t afford not to, am I right?!

I have worn the denim shirt twice already this week. It goes with everything and just adds a bit more texture to any outfit. It works year round, as does this striped t-shirt. The vest is another item that is on repeat in my closet. Now I can tackle all of my “mom” duties like errands, and groceries without looking like a hot mess.
If you get snowed in, make this chilly. It is super easy and delicious and goes great with my favorite 4- ingredient, homemade bread. My kids gobble it up.
Have a great weekend and stay warm & cozy, my East coast friends. If you are living in a warmer climate, send all the warm vibes our way, please and thank you.
XO,
