Happy Monday, friends! I get asked a lot about what I do and how I manage my day working from home, so today I thought I would share a bit more about my daily routine and what it is like in my house on a normal day. I life with my husband and 2 (almost) teenage boys ages 12 & 15 in Annapolis, Maryland.

Now, without further ado, here is a regular day in the life of The Beauty Blotter. Enjoy!
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE
6:00 am//
I wake up with my oldest son, who has to get on the bus for school at 6:45. Ugh! SO early. I make myself a coffee and my son breakfast and pack lunch for both boys, while I chat with my son about his day. Getting up that early isn’t always fun, but it is one of the few times, where it is just the two of us and he tells me about what is going on in his life. I really cherish that time together.
6:45 am//
My husband and son both leave for school and work together. My son gets on the bus and my hubby commutes into Washington D.C. I have 30 minutes alone to drink my coffee and answer some emails, before waking up kiddo #2.
7:15//
I wake up my younger son and we have breakfast together and chat about his day, before he gets on the bus at 7:45. I love that I get individual time with each of my boys before they each start their day. My younger son is out the door at 7:45.
7:45 – 10:00//
I work on my computer and do what needs to get done for that day. That could mean writing a blog post, answering emails, paying bills, or working on my social media accounts. I am a one woman show, which means I am responsible for all of my own social media, blog posts, photos, content, SEO, accounting……you get the idea…
10-12//
If it is a shoot day, I do my hair and makeup and pack up my car with about 3- 4 outfits I plan on shooting that day. Usually, I meet my friend Megan from Take Time for Style, and we shoot each others outfits at a location we decide on beforehand. These days are always fun, but also super hectic and busy, as we change outfits in the car and we try to squeeze in as much work as we can into our time together. We are both mamas with 2 boys and Megan and her hubby also run a video production company, so I don’t get to see her as often as I would like.
12 noon//
On shoot days, Megan and I usually have lunch together and catch up on our lives. We always have lots to talk about and we cover every topic from life, to kids, to business strategy. Sometimes, we have a “naughty lunch”…
(This is after 4 outfit changes…)
1-2:30 pm//
If I am still out and about, I try to squeeze in a couple of errands or work on my laptop for a bit. I always carry around my computer and this tote from MaxwellScott has been my absolute favorite tote to do so. Aside from being just gorgeous, it has a separate compartment for my laptop and is big enough to carry all of my other essentials and keeps them neat and organized.
I love, that I can zip it shut and it keeps everything safe. The quality of the leather is amazing and it is literally the nicest bag I own. It is as practical as it is beautiful and it is one of those pieces you will have forever and that becomes better with time.

2:30 – 3:20 pm//
I get home and start dinner and maybe throw in some laundry and clean whatever needs to be cleaned. I usually clean my house from top to bottom every other Monday and then just try to keep up with it. Not an easy task with 3 boys….😳. My younger son gets home at 3:20 on the dot and I like to be home to welcome him. He has a snack and then does his homework.
4:15 pm//
I pick up my older son from school. His school day ends at 2:20, but he usually has rehearsal until that time and then our afternoon/evening craziness ensues. Both boys play sports and we are currently on a soccer/basketball rotation.

5:30 pm//
The boys finish their homework and we try to eat dinner as a family, but sometimes that gets hard. I truly value our meals together. It is where we talk and connect as a family and when my husband gets a chance to really talk to the boys.
7:30 – 9:30 pm//
We shuttle our boys to and from separate basketball and/or soccer practices, get home and squeeze in a little down time and a glass of wine. Sometimes it works out that both boys have practice at the same time, so Aaron and I meet for “date night”in between, before we have to pick them up. You gotta get in that on-one one time any way you can, right?!
10:00 pm//
This momma is tired and needs her 8 hours of sleep, so I try to go to sleep by 10, but it doesn’t always happen.
That is my day and then it starts all over again when my alarm goes off at 6:00 a.m. Sometimes it feels like groundhog day, but I really love my life. I truly feel so blessed to have my little family and that my blog lets me do what I love, while being able to be home and present with my boys and husband.
