Happy Friday! Chances are, if you have ever visited the Maryland shores during the summer, you have had an Orange Crush Cocktail. This drink is quite famous around these parts and a staple cocktail at restaurants, crab houses and dock bars around the state. I had never heard of it until I moved here a couple of years ago, but boy, do I love a good Orange Crush Cocktail these days. I am generally not a huge vodka fan (another story for another day), but for some reason, I have been obsessed with this cocktail recently. They really are the perfect summer drink, so light and refreshing and they pair great with seafood or summer’s lighter fair. My husband is also a big fan and has created the perfect recipe, so I thought I would share it with you all today. Promise me, you will try it at least once before summer is over!
ORANGE CRUSH COCKTAIL
Ingredients:
1 navel orange, freshly juiced (this is crucial)
2 ounces vodka (plain, orange, or we like pineapple vodka)
1 ounce grand marnier (or another orange liqueur)
3 to 4 ounces lemon-lime soda or plain lime seltzer for a skinny version
orange wedges for garnish
How-to:
Combine the first 3 ingredients and pour over ice. ( I personally prefer crushed ice for cocktails)
Top it off with the seltzer or lime soda, garnish with an orange slice.
* For a Grapefruit Crush, which is also hugely popular here, just substitute the orange juice for grapefruit juice and use grapefruit vodka.
