Ok, raise your hand, if you have ever looked in the mirror and your reflection scared you just a wee bit. I think we have all been there and I truly don’t know a busy woman, who wouldn’t benefit from a few makeup tips & tricks tips for looking more awake, am I right!?
Whether you didn’t sleep well, your kid kept you up all night, you are feeling a little under the weather, or you stayed up too late binging “The Crown”, I have got you covered.
I told my hubby I was taping a video on “How to look more awake when you are tired”, and his advice was: ” Go back to bed.” Haha! Don’t I wish. For all of us, who don’t have that option, (every mom and woman I have ever met) this is for you. Enjoy!

PIXI ROSE FLASH BALM// I love this flash balm for waking up my tired skin in the morning. It really perks it up and smells divine. It has quickly become a favorite!
SKYN ICELAND EYE PATCHES// My new obsession. These patches are amazing. They de-puff and hydrate your under eye area like nothing else. Keep them in the fridge for an extra cooling boost.
URBAN DECAY EYE PRIMER// This stuff is magical. It erases redness and keeps everything in place. Further, if you have under-the-eye smudging issues, this will prevent them. Just apply a little under your eyes as well.
YELLOW BASED FLAT EYE SHADOW// The one I talk about in the video has apparently been discontinued, but this one from Urban Decay is just as good and my new favorite.
PIXI GLOW-Y POWDER// This is a fantastic highlighter, and gorgeous on your collarbones as well, but it also has quickly become my favorite eyeshadow. If you are over 35, use shimmer very sparingly, as it can really age you, but it is magical when used in the right way.
NAVY EYELINER// Navy liner is universally flattering. It makes the whites of your eyes look even whiter, making you look brighter and more awake
LASH CURLER// This is essential for looking more awake. It lifts lashes and curls them up and out, making your eyes look bigger and more open.
MASCARA// Use your favorite and wiggle from base to tip.
Pro-tip: Use navy liner and navy mascara to really make your eyes pop!
IT COSMETICS EYE BROW PENCIL// Eyebrows are the picture frame to your face. This pencil will create a beautiful shape and frame your face. As we age, brows and lashes tend to disappear, give us a faded appearance . Enhancing lashes and brows results in a more youthful and awake appearance.
NUDE EYELINER// Another product that seems so subtle but makes a HUGE difference in making you look more awake. Don’t skip this step!
BOBBI BROWN PEACH CORRECTOR// On days when my circles are really bad, a corrector is really good at camouflaging rather than just covering dark circles. Its’ peach undertones work to neutralize blue. (I t all has to do with color theory, but just trust me). You can apply your regular concealer over the corrector, but for the most part, I don’t do that. I just use the corrector.
NARS LAGUNA BRONZER// This is a fabulous bronzer. Not too dark, not too orangey, no shimmer. Plus, it lasts forever.
STILA BRUSH// My favorite powder/bronzer brush. It lays color down beautifully and naturally. It is an investment, but will last forever with proper care. I have had mine or 20 years.
TATA HARPER CREAM BLUSH// This is fabulous for the upcoming spring and summer season. It can be used on the cheeks and lips and is so beautiful. I just love it.
BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTER// I use this everywhere. I also mix a tad into my moisturizer, when I am feeling extra sallow. You can also mix it with body lotion to give your whole body a luminous glow. I love that it doesn’t have any shimmer, just a subtle sheen – a lit from within glow.
URBAN DECAY LIPGLOSS// I like this one, but I am not picky. Generally, when you are tired, you want to use very forgiving and sheer products. NO dark lips or matte lip colors. It will make you look zombie like and actually accentuate your tiredness. Always choose a sheer balm or gloss with a hint of brightness, like pink, berry or red. Neutral tend to work agains you in this situation and can make you look dead.
