This week, I am chatting about my Fall Wardrobe Capsule Part 3 – Dress & Jumpsuit, I will be sharing various ways to style these 2 pieces from my capsule. Both of them take me through most of the year and I can make them work for almost any occasion. I am flying to L.A. next week for work and this jumpsuit will be my staple piece for the entire trip. It literally feels like pajamas and it can take me from the airplane, to work, to cocktails with just a few accessory changes. The dress is another wardrobe workhorse. It can be super casual for errands or a lunch date and can be dressed up for a work meeting or date night. The best things about this dress is that it is very reasonably priced and comes in lots of colors. It is a closet staple.
I am sharing 3 looks for the jumpsuit and 3 looks for the dress this week. You can read my Fall Capsule Wardrobe Part 2 here, where I share 12 ways to style the pants in my capsule, and my initial Fall Capsule Wardrobe Post here, where I chat about my plan for building the capsule and the pieces I chose. Next week will be my final capsule wardrobe installments and I will be sharing some date night and dressy outfits.
Another thing I want to clarify is this: This capsule is a living, moving thing. I work with the seasons. As the temps drop and the holiday season starts, I may add a sweater, or a vest, or a fancy holiday piece and swap out short sleeves for long sleeves….. you get the idea. They key thing to remember is this – choose only versatile pieces that work with everything else in your wardrobe. My guidelines is, if I can style it 5 ways with what I already have, it is a keeper!
Okay, let’s chat about the outfits for this week.
JUMPSUIT:
JUMPSUIT | MOTO JACKET | DENIM JACKET | SCARF | ANIMAL PRINT BELT |
GOLD NECKLACE | SLIP ON SNEAKERS | ANIMAL PRINT FLATS | BLACK BOOTIES
I sized up in the jumpsuit, because the XS was a little too tight in the tush for my comfort and I wanted it to be a little more loose and drapey. The scarf I am wearing in the travel outfit pic is actually a rhuana, which can double as a sarong on a beach trip. I love the slip -on sneakers for airline travel, because they are so easy to take on and off at security. I always wear these socks with them, so I don’t have to be barefoot on that gross carpet. These are the only ones I have found that don’t slip off at the heel.
DRESS:
DRESS | DENIM JACKET | ANIMAL PRINT SCARF | MOTO JACKET | ANIMAL PRINT CLUTCH | TAN BOOTIES | BLACK BOOTIES
I am wearing my regular size in this dress. As the temperatures drop, I will also be wearing this with tights and my closed toed booties with a cardigan sweater on top. This cardigan is my current favorite – a total must have. Also, this faux fur vest is fabulous with both of these.
See you next week,
XO,
