MY TOP 6 BEAUTY ESSENTIALS
A recent Instagram photo I posted sparked a lot of questions, so I thought I would write a quick blog post about it and chat about the products in a little more detail. All of the products are super basic and essential items. Sure, it is fun to walk into Sephora and pick up the newest blush or eyeshadow palette, but many times, these are not the items that help you look and feel your best. They are impulse buys that you purchased, because they looked pretty in the store. However, that does not mean they will look pretty on you or enhance your features. Doing your makeup is much like dressing for your body type. Purchase the products that work for you, not the ones that are trendy. The products in this post are basic & boring and no fun to purchase, but man, do they make a difference on your face.
PRODUCTS:
These are the products I use every day without fail, whether I am going to the gym, the store or lunch with a friend. Some days I may add this basic shadow palette and throw on some blush, but I am fickle when it comes to those products and will use whatever I have laying around. But these are must-have, bare bone, dessert island essentials that I will purchase time and time again.
This Benefit The Porefessional Primer is amazing and fantastic. I have tried like a gazillion others, but I always come back to this one. It smoothes out my pores and gives my foundation something to cling to. Also, it makes my makeup last all day and doesn’t get greasy or shiny.
I know you all are so bored by now of me talking about this It Cosmetics CC Cream time and time again, but it is just that good. You can read more about it here and here.
As I have aged, I use less and less eye shadow, but I always, always, always wear black eyeliner and mascara. I know black liner sounds harsh, but I just apply a super thin line along my lash line to make my lashes appear thicker and then add the black mascara to give my eyes some definition. You can’t even tell I am wearing eyeliner and it is a game changer. I never spend a lot on mascara, I think it is a waste of money. My favorites are this one and this one.
I swear by this brow pencil. It is the perfect shade of neutral taupe and the super skinny tip lets me fill in the gaps and define my brows, without looking like I am wearing anything at all, but my brows just happen to be perfectly shaped and defined…..😉 ( As I always say, “It is all about smoke and mirrors, baby!”)
Lastly, this powder is amazing . It gives you this airbrushed finish look makes your pores disappear. Can you see a theme here? Yes, I love It cosmetics. Their products are fantastic. No, they did not pay me to write this – their stuff is just that good!
